Finger Painting with Gelatos

Sept 2 Done

It’s an AMAZING August!  JAM baby!

Here’s how it works each Friday throughout 2016 I will release a Journal About Me Prompt, as well as a creative challenge.  Each week I will include a picture of the round page I created based on the prompt and challenge.  My share may include a video, step out photos or guest artist post.

September 2, Prompt 36: Your job/career or job you retired from?   Creative Challenge: Finger Paint!  Do it!  I did with…Gelatos.

Here’s how.

Sept 2 1

Cover your circle with Gesso first. Next, stamp words around the page. I used PITT Artist Pen Big Brush as my ink. Great for stamping.

Sept 2 2

Add color using Gelatos. Just color on page and add a little water to finger tip and spread Gelatos.

Sept 2 3

Add a little Gesso to bottom of page, spritz with water and spread using brayer.

Sept 2 4

Add shapes using stencils and Gelatos. Just color right over stencil and spread color with finger.

Sept 2 5

Lastly, finish it off with a Gelatos painted, chipboard letter and handwritten titles on small rectangle pieces. Ink the edges to make them “pop.”

About today’s prompt: Completely grateful that I live each day as an artist, my job, my career, my love. I had such fun making this one.  I think you’ll see many more fun techniques with Gelatos.

By the way, today is our 19th Anniversary!  Woohoo!  We are off celebrating all weekend long! Have a super weekend, everyone.

  1. A very long time ago (30 years) I worked at Human Resources.
PZ (PersoneelsZaken) was the Dutch name for it, today it is also called HR.
A long time I would like to try the fingerpaint technique of Mimi Bondi and this was the perfect opportunity.

love it – it inspired me to do a page using a circle like yours . Having my daughter write words that express who she is right now. Coloring it with gelatos and adding a picture of herself. Great inspiration. Thanks!
